For fitness professionals and fitness organizations, being able to deliver safe, effective and beneficial exercise programs for cancer survivors is of growing interest. Exercise MUST be part of cancer survivorship health and wellness.
Thrive Health Services provides an excellent, comprehensive evidence-based cancer-specific training for fitness professionals, that you can complete on your own time, at your own pace. Delivered by cancer and exercise experts Dr. Culos-Reed (PhD) and Lauren Capozzi (CEP, MD/PhD Student), this training details the evidence behind the role of exercise in cancer survivorship, specific strategies to use with cancer survivors to motivate them to exercise, and considerations to ensure exercise is tailored to the unique needs of this population. This training increases health and fitness professionals’ knowledge and credibility when working with cancer survivors. For cancer survivors in the community, certified exercise professionals with a cancer specific training enhances their feelings of safety and comfort and makes successful behaviour change more likely! Health care professionals, including oncologists, nurses and physiotherapists, are relying on these trained fitness professionals to move survivors more effectively from surviving to thriving.
Completion of this training program is worth 24 Professional Development Credits with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP).
